Horry felicitated the winners of all eight divisions for males and females taking part in the Bengaluru leg of the Mahindra NBA Challenge.

Amongst the winners were Sports Hostel Mandya in the U13 and U16 Girls Divisions, Young Orions in the U13 Boys and Beagles for the U16 Boys. In other divisions, Young Orions also won the U18 Boys Division Finals, Mounts Club and Sports Hostel Mysore won the U18 Girls and Senior Women Divisions respectively. In the Senior Men Division A.S.C took the top spot.

Horry, along with Troy Justice, Senior Director, Basketball Operations India at NBA India also hosted a Generation adidas Players clinic for 40 select players. The Mahindra NBA Challenge featured a new player development program in each city called Generation adidas. Forty up and coming players from the boys and girls U-13 and U-16 divisions were selected to participate in the clinic.

The Mahindra NBA Challenge, the largest, multi-city, community-based basketball league in India, tipped off in Bengaluru on August 4 and was conducted in collaboration with the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and Karnataka Basketball Association. The Bengaluru leg featured 100 teams.

For the first time, the Mahindra NBA Challenge will feature a National Championship which will take place in Delhi Oct. 4-7, 2012. The winning teams from the Senior and Under 18 divisions, for both Men and Women, in each city will travel to Delhi to compete for the championship.

The Mahindra NBA Challenge has helped to identify and develop top basketball talent, with the Indian National Team extending training camp invites to 20 male and female players that participated in the Mahindra NBA Challenge.

Adidas is the official outfitter for the Mahindra NBA Challenge and has provided a special commemorative jersey to playoff teams in each city as well as unique national championship uniforms for teams that qualify. Spalding serves as the program’s official equipment supplier.

The Mahindra NBA Challenge not only involves competitive games, but also provides opportunities for skill development with more than 200 total player and coaching clinics conducted to date. Additionally, six different NBA All-Stars and NBA/WNBA Legends have traveled to India over the past two seasons to run clinics for participants.
